He is Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery and Emergency Medicine. He was Medical Director of Stanford University Emergency Medicine department from 2014 to 2017.

Dr. Sam Shen, MD, MBA, is Associate Chief Quality Officer and Patient Safety Officer at Stanford Health Care from 2019 to present. He is also Vice Chair of Clinical Operations and Quality at Stanford University School of Medicine from 2017 to present, and Fellowship Director of the EM Administration Fellowship from 2015 to present.

Dr. Sam Shen, MD, MBA, received his undergraduate degree in biology from Stanford University and his MD from University of California at Los Angeles. He also received an MBA from the Anderson School of Management at University of California at Los Angeles.
