Hello from New York! We are with Dr. M.P.G. Marion Koopmans, who is in Rotterdam. Dr. Marion Koopmans is a Head of the Viral Science department of the Erasmus Medical Center. A Professor of Public Health Virology at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. She is a member of WHO Scientific Advisory Group on strategy during epidemics. Dr. Marion Koopmans obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and a PhD degree from Utrecht State University in The Netherlands. Dr. M.P.G. Koopmans has had extensive career in virology and held multiple leadership positions in Laboratory for Infectious Diseases in Utrecht and Rotterdam. In US Centers fo Disease Control. She served as Chief of Virology, Diagnostic Lab for Infectious Diseases. Clinical and research interests of Dr. M.P.G. Marion Koopmans include Viral infections at the human animal interface, preparation and response to global epidemics of infectious diseases. Global effects of rapidly spreading animal-to-human virus infections, such as COVID-19 coronavirus. Dr. M.P.G. Marion Koopmans is a Director of National Influenza Centre for the World Health Organisation, she is a member of WHO Emergency Committee on MERS coronavirus. Professor Koopmans is on the expert advisory panel for the president of the European Union. She also holds other key public health administration roles internationally. Dr. M.P.G. Marion Koopmans has authored and co-authored over 600 peer-reviewed publications in international medical journals and presented widely at international conferences on infectious diseases and public health.
